6ixteenth on religion, his song “I’m Not Okay”, and learning from his past relationships
Chicago artist, 6ixteenth, slides to discuss his recent success with his song, “I’m Not Okay,” struggles he’s faced with religion, overcoming grief, and reflecting on failures in past relationships.
In the song, “I’m Not Okay,” 6ixteenth says, “I’ve been led astray, I admit that, oh lord / lord help me, I’m on my own / do you see my pain? / I wont turn away from you anymore,” 6ixteenth reflects on a time in his life where everything felt hopeless. It felt like nothing mattered, and he lacked faith in the religion that was rooted in him. It wasn’t until he cried out to God & made his biggest song to date. Often, people stray so far from their faith & feel an emptiness. That is, until they do some self-reflection & find what was missing the whole time.
